Event:  Alumni Panel Discussion with Midshipmen
Location: Naval Armory.
Time: 1400-1630
Invited participants: UNC NROTC Alumni.
Registration: Required (no fee to attend, opportunity to donate provided).
Attire: Business casual.
Notes: during the regularly scheduled Midshipman Lab/Drill, the UNC NROTC Alumni Association has been invited to participate with the Battalion of Midshipmen in a panel discussion.  This is an interactive event with alumni sharing stories and experiences while responding to questions from midshipmen and staff.


Event:  No-host Social following Alumni Panel Discussion with Midshipmen
Location: TBD Chapel Hill.
Time: 1700-2000
Invited participants: UNC NROTC alumni and family.
Registration: Required (no-host, pay as you go).
Notes: Alumni, midshipmen and staff usually gather at a nearby watering hole in Chapel Hill to continue the professional development in a less structured and more relaxed atmosphere.

Location: Courtyard by Marriott, 100 Marriott Way, Chapel Hill, NC
Time: 1830-2100
Invited participants: UNC NROTC alumni, families and friends, NROTC Unit Staff and First Class Midshipmen.
Registration: Required, fee applies ($15 or only $5 for GAA members!).
Attire: Casual
Notes: Registration covers the mess fee for hors d’oeuvres; cash bar available for alcohol purchase.

Notes: Abbreviated agenda to facilitate Annual Meeting.


Event: Annual Meeting of the Membership, presentation of Scholarships and Awards
Location: Naval Armory (Drill Deck)
Time: ~1030-1230
Invited participants: UNC NROTC AA members, family and friends; NROTC Unit midshipmen and staff
Registration: Required (for planning purposes)
Attire: Casual / football watching
Notes: Complimentary light refreshments provided.

  • Unit Commanding Officer Remarks
  • Presentation of the Koster, Ledford and Association Scholarships to Midshipmen
  • Presentation of Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Awards
  • Reports from officers and committee chairs
  • Questions and answer session with members and the board.


Event: Reunion BBQ with Midshipmen and NROTC Unit Staff

Location: Naval Armory (front lawn)
Time: ~1300-1430
Invited participants: UNC NROTC AA members, family and friends; NROTC Unit Midshipmen and staff.
Registration: Required, fee applies ($25 or only $15 for GAA members!).
Attire: Casual / football watching.
Notes: A North Carolina style Pig-Pickin’ is planned.


Event: UNC v. Georgia Tech Football Game (UNC Homecoming)
Location: Kenan Stadium
Time: ~1500-1800
Invited participants: UNC NROTC AA members, family and friends; NROTC Unit Midshipmen and staff.
Registration: Block football tickets available via GAA Homecoming registration link, while supplies last.
Attire: Casual / football watching.


UNC Naval ROTC Alumni Association

We are a non-profit service organization of the NROTC Unit at the University of North Carolina. Our association promotes the interests of the NROTC Program and its midshipmen alumni in many ways:

  • Encourage fellowship among the graduates of the univeristy and members of the association, through the publication of a newsletter, and other porjects which the board may from time to time prescribe.
  • Assist the NROTC Unit recruiting effort by providing current and prospective students with information about opportunities offered through the NROTC program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Research, preserve, and physically display items of historic significance and tradition shared by the univerity and the U.S. Navel Service.
  • Establish a speakers bureau and information resouce to other organizations, as required.
  • Endow awards, scholarships, and other activities in furtherance of educational objectives of the NROTC program, which the board may from time to time establish.
