Debra B. Davis

Debra B. DavisDeb Davis entered the NROTC unit at UNC-Chapel Hill with the class of 1984 and graduated in 1983. Participation in NROTC was a formative experience. She developed leadership skills, starting with early participation in the Drill Team. She served as Battalion Public Affairs Officer and as Battalion Commander during her last semester. After commissioning as a non-warfare-qualified unrestricted line officer (in accordance with restrictions on woman officer service at the time), she served in the Republic of Panama with US Southern Command as a politico-military liaison and protocol officer and at Navy Recruiting District Boston as an officer recruiter and assistant department head for enlisted programs. She left active duty after four years but continued service in the reserves for a further two years while starting her family. She and her husband, Jim, have two adult sons.

Following a significant career change, she is a Family Nurse Practitioner in a primary care practice in Siler City, NC. As a Spanish-fluent NP, she has been able to accept patients with limited English and assist the other providers with their exams. She accepts new patients from age 12 up.

Deb lives in rural Chatham County, North Carolina with her Navy-retired husband. Her hobbies include piano, needlework and international travel. She speaks Spanish and Medicine well and gets by in Brazilian Portuguese, French and Italian, but has never understood calculus.
