Circumstances of Death:

Died July 10, 1969 when his aircraft, a C-1 COD, crashed into the Mediterranean Sea shortly after a catapult launch from USS Kennedy (CVA-67)*. At the time of his death he was attached to Fleet Tactical Support Squadron 24.

* Note: Kennedy was originally designated as CVA 67, attack aircraft carrier. In the early 1970'ys, the classification was changed to CV 67, indicating the ship was capable of supporting anti-submarine warfare aircraft, making it an all purpose, multi-purpose, multi-mission aircraft carrier.
