Circumstances of Death:

LTJG Richard Floyd "Bunnie" Davis, Jr., 27, a pilot in the U.S. Navy died July 15, 1955 when his fighter plane, an AD-4 Skyraider, crashed at sea during naval maneuvers in the Mediterranean Sea. His squadron was operating off of USS Intrepid (CV-11). His body was never recovered.

History of Service:

While attending UNC, Richard Floyd Davis, Jr. served as battalion commander in his senior year and was vice president of the student body. After commissioning, he attended flight school.
